For the second holiday season, Starbucks is offering its over-the-top metal gift cards, which go on sale at Gilt.com starting Friday at noon.
This thing goes on sale for $450. I thought to myself…that’s crazy, but then I found out that it is loaded with $400 credit to Sbux and at the highest level of membership. So it could pay for itself over a year if you buy your coffee beans and get a lot of modifiers in your drink.
Last year they solid 5,000 metal gift cards similar to this one and they sold out in 6 min. That’s $2.25 million in 360 seconds.
This card will only sell 1,000 of them making it ultra exclusive. This is brilliant marketing.
